welcome to puffin-a-go-go, a self-indulgent forum that allows me to pollute the retina and/or brain of whoever wishes to gaze upon it.
my name is paul and i live in lousiville, ky. i was born in 1974 (oh yes, what a year it was folks) in said city, grew up in elizabethtown (suburban hell), and graduated from murray state university (small town hell). i work in an office (occupational hell), but try not to let that define who i am (those bright lights and ringing phones make it hard). my greatest love is writing and playing music, unfortunately i own only the finest in crappy equipment.
i also go by the name puffin (or the puffin), hence the title of the page. the title was placed upon me by a dear, yet extremely vocal friend from college. apparently, my nose appears to be somewhat larger and hookish compared to most people's snouts. the name stuck, i don't mind (it beats the hell out of being called jackass for the rest of your life).
if anyone has any comments or questions about anything i have to say, feel free to e-mail me.

maggie the cat

last night, i went with jess to see cat on a hot tin roof. it was part of the classic film festival that they have evey summer at the palace theater downtown. i had never been to the old palace theater, but i had always heard that it was simply beautiful. it was simply worth the price of admission just to see this elegantly restored marvel. there isn't a bad seat in the building, which is great because we're thinking of seeing george carlin there next month. when they finally started the movie, it was like being a kid again. in this day and age of thx stereo surround sound, it was a refreshing change of pace to have the mono sound come straight from the screen. you weren't overwhelmed, it was just you and the movie, something hollywood has forgotten. intimacy. thank god, for independent film makers. and the film is just simply a classic. and after watching paul newman pound down all that whiskey, jess and i ran to the liquor store to purchase a couple bottles (kentucky bourbon for me and scotch for her). speaking of classic films, the baxter is showing dr. strangelove this week. i definitely want to catch that on the big screen.

cheers.

sheesh!!

well, the radiohead show in chicago that i wanted to go to was last night. i, of course, couldn't make it because i suck. not only did they play three fucking encores, they played permanent daylight, lurgee, and true love waits; three of my favorite songs! errggg!! if they had played nude or lull, i'd have shot myself! errggg!!

sorry about that. i'm sorry i lost control.

the cure are back in the studio. their recording some additional tracks for their greatest hits album, due out later this year. you can watch the progress through curevision. apparently, robert had so much fun on the tour, he decided to postpone the break up. typical bob.

speaking of beloved english bands, new order have launched a wierd little official site for their new album newordergetready. cheers.
